Welcome Families

Dear Families,

Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year at Lumberg Elementary! We’re thrilled to welcome students back and kick off another exciting year of learning and growth. At Lumberg, our instructional approach gives every student meaningful opportunities to connect what they’re learning in the classroom to the world around them. Throughout the year, your child will dive into hands-on projects, take part in field trips, and collaborate with classmates—building not only academic knowledge but also strong communication, teamwork, and leadership skills. They’ll engage with their peers, staff, and the wider community in ways that help them grow both socially and academically. I can’t wait to see all the places their curiosity and creativity will take them this year!

What Makes Lumberg Elementary AMAZING?

  • Our Community: What truly sets Lumberg apart is our people. When staff, students, and families come together, we are relentless in our mission to inspire, support, and encourage one another every step of the way.
  • Family Interviews- Prior to the first day of school, you and your child will have a one-to-one meeting with your child's teacher. This is your opportunity to brag about your child as we ask you a lot of questions about them and your family.

  • One-Way Dual Language Classrooms: Available for Native Spanish speakers in Preschool through 6th grade, our program helps students develop strong bilingual and biliteracy skills, along with cultural awareness.
  • Preschool: We’re thrilled to welcome our youngest learners! Early education is a vital part of our community, and we’re so excited to have them learning and growing with us.
STEM Program: In our STEM classroom, students and teachers will innovate, create, build, transform, and imagine. Through hands-on experiences and meaningful discussions, students will connect their learning to the real world.
  • Nutritious Meals Every Day: We offer free breakfast beginning at 8:15 a.m. and free lunch for all students—featuring scratch-cooked meals made right here in our kitchen!

I’m incredibly honored to return to Lumberg Elementary as principal—especially because this is where my career first began. Over the past 26 years, I’ve served in Jefferson County Schools as a school social worker, assistant principal, and principal. My own educational journey was shaped by frequent moves during childhood—I lived in 10 different states and changed schools almost every year. I graduated from Rocky Mountain High School in Fort Collins, earned my bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado Denver, and received my master’s degree from New York University. Outside of school, I’m married to my wonderful husband, Andrew, and we have three amazing kids: Sienna (20), and twins Jason and Brianne (16). We also share our home with a playful pup named Luna, who keeps us on our toes!

I look forward to seeing all of you on August 14th for our Teacher Meet and Greet.

Janace Fischer

Principal
